Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (old-fashioned oats)
- 1/2 cup milk of choice (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 1/2 medium apple, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional, for texture)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Step 1: Combine Dry Ingredients. In a glass jar or a small airtight container, add the rolled oats, ground cinnamon, chia seeds, and a tiny pinch of salt. Stir these together so the cinnamon is evenly distributed among the oats.
- Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients. Pour in your chosen milk, vanilla extract, and maple syrup. If you are using Greek yogurt for extra protein and creaminess, add it now. Stir the mixture thoroughly until no dry clumps of oats remain at the bottom of the container.
- Step 3: Fold in the Apples. Add the finely diced apples to the mixture. Gently fold them in with a spoon so they are submerged. This ensures the apples soften slightly and infuse the oats with their natural juices overnight.
- Step 4: Refrigerate and Set. Seal the jar with a lid and place it in the refrigerator. Let the oats soak for at least 4 hours, though leaving them overnight (about 8 hours) yields the best, creamiest texture. In the morning, give it a quick stir and enjoy cold or warmed up!
