Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup Sriracha or Buffalo hot sauce
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pickles
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat and Prepare – Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Use a large serrated knife to slice the entire slab of rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls connected. Place the bottom half in the prepared dish.
- Step 2: Create the Spicy Honey Sauce – In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Set aside about 3 tablespoons of this sauce to use for the top of the buns later.
- Step 3: Season the Chicken – Place your shredded or diced chicken in a bowl and pour the remaining spicy honey sauce over it. Toss thoroughly until every piece of chicken is well-coated in the sticky glaze.
- Step 4: Layer the Sliders – Spread the coated chicken evenly over the bottom half of the rolls. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the chicken and place a pickle slice on each slider “spot.” Place the top half of the rolls back over the filling.
- Step 5: Glaze and Bake – Mix the reserved 3 tablespoons of sauce with the melted butter. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
