Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes
- 12 fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine or bocconcini size)
- 12 large fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 12 small bamboo skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
- Begin by washing the cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves thoroughly under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Drying the ingredients is important so that the olive oil and balsamic glaze adhere properly to the surface rather than sliding off.
- Take a bamboo skewer and thread one cherry tomato onto it. Next, fold a basil leaf in half or quarters and slide it onto the skewer. Finally, add one fresh mozzarella ball. Slide all the ingredients toward the center of the skewer so there is enough room at the bottom to hold it. Repeat this process for all 12 skewers.
- Arrange the assembled skewers on a clean serving platter. Lightly drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the skewers. Then, decoratively drizzle the balsamic glaze in a zig-zag pattern across the plate. Finish by sprinkling the sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the top for an extra burst of flavor.
